Beats or Message?

I love singing but I cannot sing to save my life, and I have made peace with that. So, I have resigned myself to just listening, singing in the bathroom, or along to the music (when I am in a good mood, lol).  Interestingly, most of the songs I have on replay, often have a story attached to them. However, it was not always so. This is how it started In high school those attending Christian Union were allowed to hold two services on Sundays. in the morning and afternoon. The morning one was just the normal service but the afternoon one had a difference because one, most of the preachers came from Nairobi, or as they call it nowadays, kanairo. Therefore,  they entertained and ministered to us in equal measures. After the service, when there was time, the CU patron, allowed us to listen to gospel music using CU's speakers. Therefore, one Sunday as we were listening to Women of Faith's I Am Trading My Sorrows, a friend asked me what that song meant to me. At first, I was at a loss ...

Virgin or virgin?

Image
Now, imagine your girlfriend telling you that" babe, aki niko na ball" and you had not been intimate at all. Had not kissed or even made out, the furthest you had gone was hugging and holding hands but with Covid, you hadn't done even shaken hands from March. I can only imagine the look of surprise, hurt, and disappointment on your face. You feel your hear tbreak into tiny pieces 💔💔💔as you are ushered into the Premium Tears Club. Then, she tells you that it does not belong to any man..Naah.. but the Holy Spirit.  As the Christian you are, this angers you extremely. While she has no shame in spreading her legs, she has the audacity to blaspheme God while at it. Oh, the steam from your ears, nostrils, mouth, and where the sun does not shine😡😡! Who does she take you to be! Kumbe, it's true of what is said of Eve's gender! Ha! and you believed she was a virgin. You laugh at that thought while feeling like crying You sniff a little while holding your waist. The cu...

oohh 3 trees.

Image
A story is told of three trees in the forest who had different dreams of what they would make when they were cut down. The first tree thought that it would be curved to make a beautiful chest that would hold very expensive and beautiful jewelry. The second tree thought that it would make a magnificent ship that would ferry royalty and the last one believed that it would grow tall and everyone who came to the forest would marvel at its height and see God's glory.  When the first tree met the ax, it was carried off by a farmer to make a manger, the second one was used by a fisherman to make a fishing boat. The third one, however, was struck down by lightning and its poles were carried and left outside unused. Many winters, summer,s springs, and autumns came and went and the poles were untouched. This sounds like a depressing story following the crash and landing of the trees' dreams. However, here is the catch. Many years later when Joseph and Mary could not find an inn to rest i...

In valleys of life? what next?

Image
There is no mountain without valleys, and neither is life. The mountains of life are all about glory, celebrations, winnings, and glamour. The valleys, however, are full of pains, sweat, tears, gory details, and losses. Valleys of life are unique to each person. some are deeper than others and the only person who can truly understand your pain is you. So, you are at the lowest point of your life, what next?  It is so easy to get stuck at pity parties😧 and the sadness makes me merry😔 but here is one word that changed my world. Tenacity . Holding on, no matter what. Oh, I know a few will think of those instances where holding on does more harm than good🙆,  but that is a story for another day. Tenacity is holding on to life, peace, happiness, passion, and to good energy. It is falling down and getting up wiser. It is getting a series of wins and staying focused on the goal. It's about finding passion and fighting when it's the bleakest of days, and it's all about wa...
